WCU Communications and Marketing Department

In order to strategically align creative service offerings with client needs and institutional priorities, it is imperative that we continually assess our work, including the internal challenges, external client needs, and leadership objectives that guide the important work of Western Carolina University’s Communication and Marketing Unit.

In order to ensure stakeholders across the institution continue to have strategic marketing support for their initiatives, this analysis shows that self-service options, auxiliary services or a combination of both can support increasing external demand while sustaining limited or fixed resources for additional staffing.

Commitment to Ongoing Assessment

  • Schedule timeline for ongoing assessment and review
  • Engage leadership to create updated strategic plan for unit
  • Set target dates for committed tactics, i.e. launch of self-service options
  • Survey clients annually on ever-changing needs, satisfaction, etc.
  • Commit to continual review and improvement
  • Advocate for appropriate resources after cost/benefit analysis of self-service toolkit investment
